Pakistan Army spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has revealed that recent terrorist activities in the country involve both Indian military officers and illegally residing Afghan nationals. He emphasized that internal and external actors are working to destabilize Pakistan.
In an interview with German media, the DG ISPR stated that illegal Afghan residents in Pakistan have been found involved in terrorism and serious crimes. He noted that after hosting millions of Afghan refugees for over four decades, Pakistan has now taken steps for their dignified repatriation, as the original reasons for their asylum, civil war, and foreign interventions, no longer exist.
General Sharif highlighted that the deadline for Afghan repatriation has already been extended several times, but their return has become inevitable. He stressed that terrorism in Pakistan is not only linked to illegal Afghan residents but also to Indian state-sponsored networks.
He disclosed that credible and irrefutable evidence exists of serving Indian Army officers being directly involved in terrorist incidents within Pakistan, and such evidence has repeatedly been presented to the international community. He asserted that India manipulates external issues to conceal its internal problems, while its extremist policies continue to fuel instability in the region.
On the Kashmir dispute, the DG ISPR urged the international community to play an active role in resolving the issue in line with the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. He added that Indian state institutions, including its military, are heavily influenced by extremist political ideologies, which have far-reaching consequences for the region.
He further emphasized that Pakistan rejects all non-state actors without distinction, reiterating that no armed group or private militia has the authority to declare jihad or conduct militant activities; such authority belongs solely to the state.
Lieutenant General Sharif reaffirmed that Pakistan has served as a frontline state in the global war against terrorism, sacrificing immensely in the process. He pointed out that U.S. weapons left behind in Afghanistan after the withdrawal are now being used in acts of terrorism, a concern even acknowledged by Washington.
He concluded by underlining that Pakistan maintains constructive and strategic ties with its brotherly nation, China, and will continue to play a positive role on the international stage.
