The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has instructed vehicle owners across the province to immediately replace old or yellow-colored license plates with the new featured plates. The department has warned that failure to comply within the given timeframe may result in heavy fines and strict legal action.
In a reminder notice issued to the public, the department emphasized that all motorcycle, car, and other private and commercial vehicle owners in Sindh must switch to the new plates by next month. Authorities also advised those who have not yet collected their plates from the Civic Center to do so without delay.
It may be recalled that last month the Sindh government announced a province-wide replacement of vehicle license plates and directed all owners to purchase and install the new plates within a specified period. However, many vehicles are still using the old plates, forcing authorities to extend deadlines repeatedly while warning of fines and possible confiscation of vehicles.
Traffic officials have said that the initiative is aimed at modernizing the license plate system and ensuring stricter compliance with traffic laws across the province. Meanwhile, a large number of citizens argue that the sudden change has caused inconvenience, particularly for residents of Karachi.
