Beijing: China has imposed sanctions on 20 American defence companies and 10 individuals over the sale of weapons to Taiwan, calling the move a violation of its sovereignty and national security.
According to foreign media reports, all assets of the sanctioned individuals in China have been frozen, and their entry into the country has also been banned.
Chinese authorities have further instructed local organizations and business entities to refrain from engaging in any form of cooperation with the individuals and companies placed under sanctions.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Taiwan represents the first and most critical red line in China–US relations, which cannot be crossed under any circumstances.
The ministry warned that China would respond firmly to any provocative actions related to Taiwan and demanded that the United States immediately halt what it described as dangerous attempts to supply weapons to the island.
The Chinese action follows a recent US announcement last week regarding the sale of weapons worth $11.1 billion to Taiwan, which had already drawn strong objections from Beijing.
