MQM Pakistan leader and Member of the National Assembly Farooq Sattar, strongly criticized the federal government, stating that even a single constitutional position held by MQM is not tolerated by some, while others continue to hold multiple positions simultaneously.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi alongside other MQM leaders, Farooq Sattar delivered a stern message to the federal government, calling it a final warning to change its approach and adopt political tolerance, warning that otherwise the survival and stability of all could be at risk.
He stated that Pakistan’s progress and stability are directly linked to the development and strength of Karachi, emphasizing that a strong and empowered local government system has become essential for the country’s survival.
Farooq Sattar demanded the immediate establishment of an effective and empowered local government system to ensure the transfer of authority to the grassroots level.
On the occasion, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the transfer of powers and resources in Karachi is being blocked by an artificial majority, adding that they are waiting for good news through the 28th constitutional amendment.
He urged all political parties to immediately introduce the 28th amendment, assuring that MQM would fully support it if brought forward.
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal stated that under the current circumstances, the need for this constitutional amendment is greater than ever before and requires urgent progress.
