Lahore: The Lahore High Court has granted a deadline extension to the Inspector General (IG) Punjab until tomorrow, excluding 12 o’clock, for the recovery of journalist Imran Riaz.
A hearing was held in the Lahore High Court regarding the recovery of journalist Imran Riaz. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations appeared before the Chief Justice of the High Court, and the lawyer requested an order to present Imran Riaz.
Imran Riaz’s lawyers requested the defense secretary to be summoned, upon which the Lahore High Court directed the IG Punjab and the secretary of the interior to be summoned within an hour. The IG Punjab appeared before the court in compliance with the court order, and the court granted the IG Punjab time until tomorrow, excluding 12 o’clock, for the recovery of Imran Riaz.
The court directed the IG Punjab to seek assistance from all relevant institutions and ensure the safety of Imran Riaz’s family. The IG Punjab assured the court of his commitment to recover Imran Riaz and stated that wherever he is, he will present him before the court.
When Advocate Azhar Siddique appeared, the government lawyer raised an objection, but the Chief Justice rejected the objection raised by the government lawyer.
Advocate Azhar Siddique stated that despite having a mobile phone, no help was provided to Imran Riaz, and the police were not performing their duty properly and were not showing any cooperation.
