Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has laid the foundation stone of the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone. In his address at the ceremony, he stated that the economic revolution initiated from the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone will spread throughout the country.
After laying the foundation stone of the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone, Bilawal Bhutto further emphasized that the zone will provide employment to one and a half million people. Due to its proximity to the airport, the Special Economic Zone is highly advantageous. He invited the business community to collaborate and work together for the economic progress of the nation.
Bilawal expressed that the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone is another successful project being introduced by the PPP. However, in the past, there has been a campaign against the PPP, stating the need for a new political party. While others engage in mere rhetoric, the PPP demonstrates its commitment through action.
Highlighting the achievements of the previous government, Bilawal mentioned that Pakistan received the gift of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) through the efforts of former President Asif Ali Zardari. Sindh ranks 6th in Asia for public-private partnerships, and the Sindh government has shown excellent performance in handling COVID-19 and flood situations. The PPP’s approach to serving the people is superior to others.
The Foreign Minister further stated that collaboration with the business sector has resulted in improving the infrastructure. Working with the business sector enhances the business structure, and the Thar Coal project was developed through public-private partnerships. The communication infrastructure has been significantly improved throughout the country.
The idea of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was proposed by Asif Ali Zardari, as mentioned in the speech at the ceremony for laying the foundation stone of the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone. The President of China incorporated this idea into the Belt and Road Initiative.
It was stated that the concept of the CPEC extended beyond just roads; without the economic zone, the CPEC cannot progress. It is hoped that the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone project will be completed swiftly. The current location of the economic zone is the best place, as it is in close proximity to the airport and Port Qasim.
Murad Ali Shah, the Chief Minister of Sindh, mentioned that 1,530 acres of land have been allocated for the economic zone, and in the future, the area of the economic zone will be expanded. Bilawal Bhutto will become the Prime Minister after four months and will also inaugurate the completion of this project. Karachi will experience further progress under Bilawal Bhutto’s premiership.
