A seven-day anti-polio campaign has been launched across 41 districts in the country. According to the Ministry of Health, the campaign aims to vaccinate over 9.5 million children against polio.
In the previous campaign, more than 95% of children were vaccinated against polio. However, children in the districts of Chaman and Qila Abdullah in Balochistan were not vaccinated.
Health ministry officials stated that children in North and South Waziristan, Tank, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar, and Lakki Marwat also did not receive the polio vaccine. Due to security and other reasons, 600,000 children were left unvaccinated.
The Ministry of Health has confirmed that these 600,000 children will be specifically targeted in the current polio campaign to ensure they receive the polio vaccine.
