Pakistan Railways has achieved a significant financial milestone by generating over Rs83 billion in revenue during the first eleven months of the current fiscal year.
This marks the highest-ever revenue recorded by the department in this period, reflecting notable improvements in operational performance and financial management. The passenger train segment contributed Rs42 billion, while freight services earned Rs29 billion. An additional Rs12 billion came from other sources.
With one month remaining in the fiscal year, Pakistan Railways is well-positioned to surpass last year’s annual record of Rs88 billion. Among the divisions, Karachi led the revenue chart, generating Rs13 billion from passenger services and Rs25 billion from freight operations. Lahore division followed with Rs 10 billion from passengers and Rs 0.75 billion from freight. Rawalpindi and Multan divisions each earned Rs4 billion through passenger services, contributing a combined Rs8 billion.
This 11-month revenue figure is the highest ever in Pakistan Railways’ history.
For comparison, the institution earned Rs77 billion during the same period last year, showing a notable year-on-year increase.
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi praised the achievement, calling it the result of the hard work, dedication, and determination of the entire Pakistan Railways team.
He stated that with continued commitment, Pakistan Railways will be strengthened further, focusing on modernization, improved services, and the development of a sustainable and efficient transport system.
