Following India’s battlefield defeat by Pakistan, foreign cricketers are now reportedly hesitant to travel to India.
According to media reports, Cricket Australia is preparing to shift the responsibility of IPL participation back onto the players, seemingly avoiding direct involvement in the decision.
After the recent escalation between Pakistan and India, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to resume on May 17. However, incidents during the tournament have frightened players. Due to repeated security concerns and insistence from foreign players, the Indian government had to suspend the IPL.
In its statement, Cricket Australia said it will respect the players’ decisions — if they wish to go, no one will stop them. However, the team management reserves the right to decide on players involved in the World Test Championship.
The board added that it is in contact with the Indian cricket board regarding safety arrangements for its players.
Meanwhile, Karachi Kings captain David Warner has announced that he will return to Pakistan once the Pakistan Super League (PSL) resumes.
